“ Why I call myself a french Canadian double double…
If you’re Canadian, you probably know a “double-double” as the classic coffee order: two creams, two sugars. But for me, it’s a little more personal.
I’ve had two double lung transplants, which is where the name comes from—two “doubles.” It’s a playful way to tie my journey to something uniquely Canadian (and let’s face it, we love our coffee). As a proud French Canadian, I embrace this nickname as a reflection of my undying love for puns, for resilience, and a connection to my roots. It’s my way of reminding myself—and others—that even through life’s challenges, there’s always room for strength, a little sweetness, and a lot of humour.
So whether it’s embracing your unique story, or finding joy in the little things, there’s always room to add a little sweetness and puns to life’s challenges.
Cheers to finding joy, connection, and meaning—one sip (or step) at a time.
xo, Hélène
