This is my second blog entry, and I'm not sure how long my entries should be but I have a motto these days - I made it up:
"Keeping Things Simple Still Brings A Dimple"
(dimple |ˈdimpəl| noun; a small depression in the flesh, one that forms in the cheeks when one smiles)
I take great pleasure in smiling but I am hooked on seeing other people smile. When I am walking in a public place, I believe it is now a subconscious goal of mine to grin at a complete stranger, because chances are, I will get something back. It makes my heart feel good. Besides, you have probably heard this so many times, but it actually takes more muscles to frown then it does to smile. I think that, in itself, is a bit of insight as to how we should face things in the grand scheme of life. We are capable of seeing both the positive and the negative sides of every thing. If it is easier to smile then it is to frown (on a muscular level), shouldn't unpredictable moments in life be easier to see with a positive attitude rather then a negative one? Unfortunately, its not always easy to see the positive side when things happen but focusing on the little positive ones, and I mean little, can really make all the difference in the end.
Today, we made pancakes. Adding something as simple as Chocolate Chips and two drops of food colouring to the batter this morning made me so happy. Maybe I am easily amused but I believe we have so much to be thankful for. Even a silly drop of food colouring, or a delicious handful of chipits does the trick and I don't mind writing about it. I have gained perspective and "Keeping Things Simple Brings Hélène A Dimple."
